Commitment

What Does Total Commitment Mean to You?

God is never satisfied with half-hearted service, with partial, of shallow commitment. He has never wanted us to compartmentalize our lives. Such as: this is for my religion, for my family, for my career, or for my entertainment. Jesus said: “Love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Matthew 22:37. This was certainly not a new command. At Mount Sinai, it was “No others gods before Me.” The rich ruler was told: “all that you have.” Four words meaning total commitment. Matthew 19:21. What keeps us from being total committed?

Worldliness

We are all guilty! We attempt to walk with one foot in this world, the other in HIS WORLD. James 4:4 “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” Yes, we’re in the world, but not of the world. 1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things in the world… the world passes away, but he that does the will of the Father, will live forever.” If we put God first, this is total commitment, but if we put the world first, then Jesus says in Matthew 12:30 “He that is not with me, is against me.”

Selfishness

Our commitment, or lack of it, can be seen in our giving of our time, talent, treasure, and energy to Him. For most of us, giving a few dollars each Sunday is not total commitment. Paul commended the churches of Macedonia for their generosity, but the secret of their liberality is seen in the fact that “they first gave themselves to the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 8:5. Consequently, indeed our giving of ourselves and our resources is directly proportional to our commitment.

Convenient Worship

“Must I attend all the services of the church?” Problem! Therefore, the more we love Him and His people, the more we’ll want to worship, study, praise, and fellowship together. What are we thinking? What goes through our mind when we sing, “O How I Love Jesus,” knowing full well we will not return to worship Him until it’s in our convenience.

Solomon and Jesus Speaks

In Conclusion, Proverbs 3:6 “Put God first in your life, acknowledge Him in everything you do, and He will direct your paths, making them straight.” Jesus speaks in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you.”

THEREFORE, WE AS CHRISTIANS SHOULD INVITE SOMEONE TO WORSHIP WITH US NEXT SUNDAY. AFTER THE MORNING WORSHIP, INVITE THEM TO HAVE A MEAL WITH US. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. WILL YOU DO IT? CAN GOD COUNT ON YOU TO INVITE SOMEONE?
