Absent Once too Often

Absent Once too Often

“Absent,” the boss said to me. It was true, I had a headache. “Absent again?” he said another time. Yes, my family from out of state came to visit. “Absent again?” The boss seemed to be repeating himself. But, he was right, the kids had been sick. One more time he asked, “Absent again?” What was my excuse? I had overslept!

The boss called me in, looked me squarely in the eye, and said, “You’re not interested in working for me. You don’t really want this job.” “Oh, yes sir, I do. I need this job. It is very important to me and my family.” But one thing after another interfered, and I missed work again and again. FINALLY, I was called into the presence of the boss and told, You’re fired! You were absent too often to be of any help around here. Evidently, your heart and your interest was somewhere else. I walked out of his office, down a long flight of stairs, out the door…into hell!!

You see, my boss had been Jehovah God….I had been employed as a Christian….my absence were from the worship and work of the church. God was right—I hadn’t really wanted the job….it was just insurance in case I needed it. I didn’t really want to go to heaven. SO, I DIDN’T.

Be Present

I hope after reading this article, that we realize how important that it is to be in the Lord’s house every Lord’s Day morning. It is commanded by the writer of the Hebrew letter, that we forsake not the assembling of ourselves together. Hebrews 10:25. What are your thoughts on the DAY approaching? The DAY of our death? The DAY that the Lord comes again? What ever that DAY is, we must be faithful to be in His house of worship every time that we can.

YOU MUST DO THESE THINGS to Become a Christian

Becoming a Christian, Saved, Born Again, In Christ, or becoming a new creature all talk about salvation.

1) You must believe and confess that Jesus is the son of God. John 8:24 Jesus said you must believe that He is the Christ the Son of the living God. Matthew 10:32-33Acts 8:36-37 further tells us to confess that Jesus is God’s son.

2) Luke 13:3 Jesus said you must repent of your sins.

3) Mark 16:16 Jesus said you must be baptized.

4) Live faithfully unto death1 John 1:2

Therefore, as a new creature, a Christian, we will live faithfully unto death and then arise to live forever with God. In conclusion, this is the God who loves you, who wants you to be his child. You can become the child of a King!

Won’t you heed His word?
